Have had a slow week: woke up one day with a sore throat, spent the next few days sneezing and coughing but am better now. It was quite nice to be able to stop, sit on the sofa reading a good book and watching 'A Christmas Carol'.

My good book was 'Hagitude' by Sharon Blackie, discovered in Waterstones recently. I read the backcover blurb and I was hooked, just had to buy it!

The blurb: quote.....'What is Hagitude? It means being at ease with the unique power women embody in the second half of their life..........having a strong sense of who we are.....what we have to offer the world. And a firm belief in our place in the ever-shifting web of life....' unquote.

How could I resist such a wonderfully uplifting and positive statement? (On a par with Riot Women!) Being an old lady, well into my second half of life, I find it very positive reading. Hagitude: hags with attitude- just what I'm in need of, I'll be volunteering to be one.

One dictionary definition of hag is 'an ugly old woman'. That's so harsh, needs a re-definition. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder then ugly should be too. And 'old woman'- now that I'm reading Hagitude -seems like a pleasant, positive and hopeful thing to be.

Anyway, I'll stop now. But something I've just realised: the 'someone' who spellbound Jill was a hag too- but that frog spell was possibly a step too far, even though Jill was quite rude and probably deserved it..........
