My first blog

So here goes: My first attempt to blog, I’ll do my best.

Writing a book, and getting it published, has been a big adventure for me. I’ve been

quietly rhyming and playing with words for a long time. Now “A Midsummer Tale” is

out there – hopefully it will survive and thrive!

I love the rhyming process, especially the rhythm of the limerick: a friend gave me a

copy of Michael Palin Limericks years ago: that’s when my love of limericks began.

It seems that rhyming is good for the brain (young and old) so hopefully it’s doing me

good as well as making me happy.

The limerick provides me with a wonderful framework on which to hang words. The

rhythm of it guides me through the story that I am trying to tell. I set off with a vague

idea of what I want to write and the story evolves, slowly taking a life of it’s own-

(with a certain amount of tweaking and rearranging along the way), but that’s part of

the fun.
