After-Christmas Tale

Now Christmas is over it's time

For me to begin my new rhyme:

I'll start rhyming again

to kickstart my old brain-

(This is my favourite pastime.).

The Christmas booze has dulled my brain-

I need to be rhyming again-

Had too much Christmas drink

and it has made me think

That-possibly-I should abstain.

But first I'll welcome the New Year

with a toast:either wine or beer,

Then I may just refrain

from choosing to abstain-

I'll just have to play it by ear!
